Cleopatra – 3rd step

cleopatra cross stitch grid
I was looking forward the next step of this embroidery that is appearing little by little and which is more and more interesting to make. This 3rd part develop the area next to the drape of the queen, a part of the throne under the cat and the outlines of the cat.
Two grids are provided on 2 separated sheets to better identify the work to do.
New threads are delivered with green, blue, green watercolor shades, noble and bright colors bringing majesty to the queen of queens. These Royal rayon threads are shiny and soft (artificial silk, continuous fibers viscose threads). It is more difficult to use them when they are doubled. In fact, the slip more than other threads, we have to pay attention to their placement and embroider more slowly. However, Christelle gives us a trick on her website.

The news of this 3rd step:
– the use of the rayon thread
new for me which colors gradients are amazing. As the designer promises us, it seems that Cleopatra is coming out of the water.
– texture and depth variations speak for themselves as promised. The relief and the depth of the various fabrics are refined.
– the embroideries around the cat with the straight stitch give him relief.
other surprise: unlike the other 2 steps, the designer doesn’t show us the photos of this step finished on her blog! It’s up to us to discover it gradually. She reveals it after about 10 days.

Let’s go for the 4th step!
