Cutting up and painting – 1st rose

Now that I have all the supplies, that I tried my paints, I start the making of my 1st hand painted silk rose.

The rose that I chose is not difficult because I already know the basics of the construction of this flower and about its assembly. It is just that there are many steps, elements to gather and that you have to be meticulous to get a good result.
It is composed of two big roses, a rose bud and leaves.

I chose to use silk satin for the petals as well as for the leaves that I painted in yellow-purple (pink on the book).
I start with the cutting, the painting of the petals and leaves, the making of the rose bud base and the painting of my homemade stamens.

The pattern comes from one of my Japanese books which title is « Fabric Flower Making – Roses » by Tomoko Lida. The instructions are of course in Japanese… but we manage to see the indications, such as the quantity of petals, leaves and calix, the length of the stems, where are the patterns for the leaves in the book…

Now, let’s go on with the assembly…
