Fashion, the ultimate book of costume and style

I have been offered this gorgeous book a long time ago, but I wanted to share it with you even its if it’s been late now (Fashion, the ultimate book of costume and style – English version).

This book is not only a beautiful visually beautiful and elegant but it is a real bible of fashion. Mine is white with a fuchsia velveteen side and a black velveteen dress figure (DK Dorling Kindersley). It also exists in French in white with a red velveteen side and a black velveteen dress (Prisma), then a black version with fuchsia writings and a black figure lined with white. We have the choice of the case for this beauty!

It tells us with texts and images the story of fashion (more than 1500 costumes and outfits) and make us discover all the outfits and styles than have been worn during the various ages of history all over the world. Each big historical period starts with a timeline.
The beautiful collections presented by this book show to what extent fashion reflects cultures and eras by their identity function, permitting to show our belonging to a group or to mark down ourselves.
We start with Sumerians, the refinement of ancient Egypt, the roman empire, crusades and knights, the renaissance and its splendor, the baroque era and the rococo, the Belle Époque, the dancing sixties, flower power, glam rock, going further with great icons of all times (Kate Middleton, Twiggy but also Eleanor of Aquitaine), until the modern designers such as Schiaparelli, Alexander McQueen, JP Gauthier, Vivien Westwood, Balenciaga or Prada, the prestigious Haute Couture fashion houses founded by Yves St Laurent, Coco Chanel, etc.… without forgetting the supermodel stars of the 90’s.
