The Tenebrae cloak is the master piece of the collection Sortilèges. Imagined to be worn by a dark and shadowy magician queen, this unique piece is a design between high fashion and magic. I am going to explain why…
I propose today to make a detailed description of its making, step by step, to speak about its assets, with photos that I have taken when I was sewing it.
– Making the base of the cloak with tulle lined with tulle.
The cloak Tenebrae is completely made from tulle and lined with tulle to give more scale.
– Ornamentation of the cloak with flowery guipure lace.
Second step and not the least : cutting the lace and placing them mirrored which requires patience and precision.
The pieces of flowery guipure lace are shaped as arabesques, swirls and spirals given it a touch of mystery and majestic.
As I was saying above, I made this cloak imagining a dark and mysterious woman wearing it, a dark witch queen. That’s why the laces are set very precisely: the arabesques mirror each other (symbol of the reflection of truth, a door to another world or a view on it), the SPIRALS with 5 helixes symbolize the 5 elements, the 5 pentagram’s points, the ultimate protective symbol worn as an amulet and often used in magic-witchcraft, but also of the Feminine Sacred.
– Sewing a refined lace on the edge of the cloak with my sewing machine for the base and by hand for the outlines for an impeccable finish.
– Asian fastener on the front.

– Making the shoulder pads and their Celtic motif.
Drawing of the Celtic motif and making 2 of them with soutache. There is cause for confusion with the crossings of the soutache above and below. And then sewing them on the shoulder pads.
– Making the jewel sewn at the back of the cloak.
Creating the jewel with an amethyst cabochon carved with a flower enhanced with soutache and amethyst and obsidian beads.
– Making the flowers on the sides of the cloak.
Cutting the silk satin and tulle flowers. Then, shaping them thanks to my flower making tools. They have been sewn one by one with the same mirrored placement on each sides of the cloak.
There are exactly 77 flowers with 4 and 5 petals symbolizing the firmament’s stars. They have in their center amethyst or obsidian beads.
7 is the spiritual perfection number and 77 the intensification of it (many significances are put forward according to religions and beliefs).
It took me not less than 100 hours working to make it!
NB: It is said that amethyst increases concentration, creativity, imagination; it brings protection, spiritual elevation, clarity of mind, serenity and inner peace.
obsidian would act as a shield against negative energies, would give access to the light of truth and knowledge, thus allowing to know oneself better.
