Initiation to gold embroidery

For several years now, I have been closely interested in crafts related to haute couture, including embroidery, Lunéville hook embroidery and more particularly gold embroidery. I had acquired books on this subject over the years, but I had not dared to take the plunge because this technique requires a lot of precision and skill.

But now I came across the Artesane site a few weeks ago. They propose 2 videos: the first to learn about gold embroidery and a second to improve your skills in this same technique.

What did I do? I rushed to the buy button because the price was so affordable.
I set up my embroidery frame, I lay out my organza and here I am!

The videos are presented by Martine Biessy, are detailed step by step and very clear.

The 1st video is divided into chapters explaining what gold embroidery is, the materials used, the supplies you need, and of course all the step-by-step explanations to design 3 brooches (+ 3 models as a gift).
The 2nd video allows you to make different floral and leafy parts to assemble them and make a headband for example or a set of brooches.

They are accompanied by pdf documents that summarize the supplies to be obtained, the embroidery stitches used, the patterns to be traced and the cuts / appliqués to be reproduced on the felt.

I can say that I am completely satisfied with this purchase and I will even say conquered! Everything is clear, well explained as you go. Martine also met the emphasis on the important points in order to design the most beautiful of embroideries.

Attention, gold embroidery is very meticulous and the supplies fragile. It is not easy. I recommend having at least small sewing or embroidery basics to get started calmly in this art.

Here are my beauties …
